This exchange meeting, hosted by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hainan Provincial Committee and co-organised by China Chamber of International Commerce Hainan Chamber of Commerce and Windows to Global Trade, brought together representatives from China and New Zealand in fields such as trade, construction, finance, energy, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, and tourism. It provided a platform for Chinese enterprises entering the New Zealand market and New Zealand businesses investing in the Chinese market.

At the meeting, Department of Commerce of Hainan Province and Office of Commission for Comprehensive Reform of the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee shared new investment opportunities in the Hainan Free Trade Port and explained key policies. The Windows to Global Trade and some of the enterprises on site conducted brand promotion separately. During the exchange session, nearly 30 New Zealand business representatives communicated in-depth with representatives from over 50 Chinese businesses. China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Hainan Provincial Committee and the Auckland Business Chamber in New Zealand, as well as the Windows to Global Trade and the New Zealand Chinese Business Club, each signed a memorandum of cooperation. This will promote more practical cooperation between Hainan and New Zealand.

New Zealand boasts advantages in areas like technological innovation, green energy, and ecological agriculture, presenting broad scope for cooperation with Hainan. In recent years, cooperation between Hainan and New Zealand has deepened continuously. A number of businesses such as New Zealand's Stonewood have invested in the Hainan Free Trade Port. Through their visit and exchanges in Hainan, many members of the New Zealand business delegation expressed that they have gained a better understanding of Hainan, significantly bolstering their confidence in investing in the Hainan Free Trade Port. They showed a high level of interest in cooperation in areas such as beef and mutton processing, and tourism services, and will start to work on related investment matters in the Hainan Free Trade Port. In addition, some Chinese enterprises, through their participation in this economic and trade exchange meeting, are full of confidence in launching investment cooperation with New Zealand.
"Many enterprises have gained a lot from their visit to Hainan, they are very interested in the Hainan Free Trade Port and are considering establishing companies here," said Yang Jian, the chairman of the New Zealand Chinese Business Club. On one hand, policies such as zero tariffs and added value from processing are very attractive to businesses. On the other hand, Hainan's approach to servicing businesses has left a deep impression on everyone.
The Dreamhome Group, is one of the companies planning to establish a subsidiary in Hainan. "We started paying attention to the Hainan Free Trade Port in 2020. After this on-site research in Hainan, we are very confident about investing in the Hainan Free Trade Port, and we plan to register a company in the financial sector here in Hainan," said the founder of the Dreamhome Group, Sun Chengfan.
Lin Yong, the founder of New Zealand Queen's Jewelry, who visited Hainan 30 years ago, deeply feels the changes in Hainan. "Hainan has changed tremendously and is currently full of opportunities," Lin Yong stated. He plans to leverage the policies of the Hainan Free Trade Port, such as added value from processing, to advance businesses like jewelry processing and manufacturing in Hainan.
